2016 Nissan Sentra vs 2015 Nissan Sentra
The 2016 Nissan Sentra has arrived at Continental Nissan! Now that the new model is here, Cicero, Berwyn, and Lagrange area drivers might be wondering what sets the 2016 Sentra apart from the 2015 version. As always, Nissan aimed to keep the all the 2015 Sentra's strong points, while updating its design and adding all the latest developments in automotive technology. In other words, this is the smartest Sentra yet.
Like the 2015 Sentra, the 2016 Sentra comes in 5 different trims: S, FE+ S, SV, SR, and SL. Under the hood, it still uses last year's 1.8L four-cylinder engine, combined with Nissan's Xtronic CVT. Improvements to the CVT's programming provide a more linear feel to the acceleration. The incredible efficiency of the whole setup hasn't changed at all. Like the 2015 Sentra, most 2016 models can get up to 29 city / 39 highway MPG, while the FE+ S gets 30/40, thanks to its specialized tires and aerodynamic underbody.
The 2015 Sentra's roomy interior is another strength the 2016 model shares. Its measurements haven't changed in the update, so the Nissan Sentra still has class-leading headroom and legroom for passengers, along with generous trunk space for its compact size.
New Sentra, New Look, New Technology
The first changes you'll notice are on the outside. The Sentra's front and rear fascias have been redesigned, with new boomerang-shaped headlights to match its siblings in the Nissan lineup, and an aggressive new honeycomb-patterned grille. LED headlights are also available for the first time.
Along with the 2016 Sentra's bold new design, there's a large collection of cutting-edge tech features that weren't available on last year's model. Like the 2015 Sentra, the 2016 Sentra offers the NissanConnect navigation system with mobile apps. New for 2016, though, is NissanConnect Services, which adds roadside assistance, remote access and customizable alerts on your compatible smartphone. In SV and higher trims, the 2016 Sentra's dashboard features a new 5" color Advanced Drive-Assist Display, which puts key information from Bluetooth, driver assistance features, and turn-by-turn directions from navigation in easy view.
Finally, the 2016 Sentra has gotten safer. While the 2015 model was rated "Good" by the IIHS, the 2016 model gains a "Top Safety Pick" rating, thanks to a new forward emergency braking system. Like the 2015 Sentra, the 2016 Sentra is available with a rearview camera. A blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, and Intelligent Cruise Control are all new.
